Introduction: Bemax Resources Limited is one of Australia’s premier mineral sands companies and is headquartered in Brisbane. In 2006, Bemax took up the position of the fifth largest titanium dioxide feedstock producer in the world, delivering on production schedules from the new Murray Basin and existing Western Australian operations.

Smartsoftware provided wide-ranging assistance to The Department of Housing and Works in selecting, implementing and supporting their new Financial Management Information System (“FMIS”). Supplying qualified technical and business consultants, Smartsoftware were responsible for the overall processes of analysing, implementing, tuning and supporting a new FMIS. Training was provided to all levels of personnel in both application and technical aspects of the system.

Introduction: Douglas Partners is an Australian owned engineering consultancy specialising in the fields of geotechnics, environment and groundwater.

Services provided: Douglas Partners were awarded the BRW best consulting engineering firm (revenue under $50 million) in March 2007. The BRW Client Choice awards are the result of surveying over 11,000 clients around Australia by independent specialist consulting firm Beaton Consulting. The awards present a unique insight into the top professional firms and what they do to win the loyalty of their clients. To ensure their continued success, Douglas Partners recognized the need to ensure their internal systems are also the best and so commenced the process to replace a series of disparate accounting, billing and project applications with an integrated project management and accounting system. Vision was the solution and despite a national branch office network, the project is expected to be fully live by February 2008. Smartsoftware has been providing implementation, training and consulting services for the project.

Services provided: With a requirement to improve the practice’s project management and accounting systems, Geyer commenced with the implementation of the Wage Easy Payroll/HR system plus Employee Kiosk in February 2005. Following the successful implementation of the new payroll, Vision was selected as the new project accounting system, with implementation, training and consultancy services by smartsoftware. As well as the Vision implementation, a key requirement was that Geyer could also feed relevant project data into their inhouse developed system for measuring key project metrics. Smartsoftware expertise was key in ensuring that this requirement was met, providing assistance above and beyond the initial project scope to ensure this was successful.

Growth in the business and relying on disparate systems to manage accounting,
payroll and billing meant the firm invested a lot of time each month just to get
invoices out the door. GMG were looking for a solution that would manage these
aspects of the business quicker, improve cash flow and provide better
project-orientated reporting.

Working with major property developers and government agencies, their projects are focused on disciplines such as Environmental Consulting, Environmental Restoration, Landscape Architecture and Landscape Maintenance.

Services provided: LandPartners was formed from the merger of KFM Partnership and Aspect North, two environmental consulting practices operating out of Brisbane and Northern NSW respectively. Both companies utilized a variety of separate and non-integrated solutions for managing their growing businesses. Recognising that a key factor in their continued success and future growth was an integrated project management system, they commenced the implementation of Vision at the same time as the merger of the two companies. Vision was implemented on time and on budget and was regarded as one of the most successful implementations the company had been involved in.
